Strategic Planning Update

With the successful completion of the reauthorization process, MIT Academy is now ready to move forward on the last critical piece of the MIT puzzle -- strategic planning. The strategic planning process is intended to take all the goals for MIT (such as WASC, Technology Plan, reauthorization recommendations, etc.) and combine them into a 5-year plan that reflects the best thinking for what the future of MIT should look like. The strategic plan will include goals in the areas of student learning, facilities, technology, community relations, and student support.

Strategic Planning is scheduled for Saturdays 1/7, 1/21, and 2/4, all from 9 - 2:30. We are looking to put together a diverse stakeholder group of 30-35 people who who can use their knowledge of the school, community, and students to craft a plan that will make MIT Academy a premier state-wide and national school of excellence.

If you are interested in participating in this process, please let Director Matt Smith know, and thank you for your interest in the future of
MIT Academy!

Good News from MIT Middle School!

On Wednesday, December 14th , the Vallejo City Unified School District Board of Education voted unanimously to reauthorize the Mare Island Technology Academy Middle School charter. Recognizing the significant growth of the middle school over the past two years, along with strong parent and community support, the board renewed the charter for an additional five years, through the 2017-18 school year. MIT Academy extends its thanks to the VCUSD board, and its congratulations to all staff, parents, and supporters of MIT who contributed to this success.

Welcome to Mare Island Technology Academy!

MIT Academy is a 6-12 charter school in Vallejo, California that specializes in technology, innovative instruction, and project-based curriculum. We are the highest performing secondary school in Vallejo due in large part to our outstanding staff, committed parents, and motivated students. We have approximately 800 students and although there are waiting lists at most grade levels, determined parents can nearly always get their students into MIT Academy either through the waiting list (which can last up to a year), or through the annual spring lottery.

If you are interested in MIT Academy, please use this extensive website as a resource, or feel free to call me personally at 707-552-6482, Ext. 110. I'm sure the more you know about us, the more you'll appreciate Mare Island Technology Academy!
