| Multicultural Day - 2013 |
At their March meeting, the MIT Board of Directors approved the Strategic Planning group's annual update, which included a directive to create and implement an official MIT uniform by August, 2013. The uniform, developed by the MIT VOORP committee in consultation with various parent and student groups, was chosen for cost, durability, and consistency with current dress code requirements. Uniform apparel and policies are shown and described on this page. Note also the following:
And two important final points:
Please see the April Newsletter for more information.
Students at MIT Academy receive a Student Planner to assist them in recording and scheduling assignments. If a student loses their planner, replacements are a nominal fee.
This is not intended to be a comprehensive list of items that all students will need. Its purpose is to assist parents and students in their efforts to be ready for school to start, and to purchase desired items during sale times. Please note that individual teachers may have their own list of additional items that will be needed for their class.
Summer is a wonderful time for your child to relax and enjoy his/her time off. When your child returns on August 20th, we want him/her to be ready to learn. One way for them to be ready is to maintain their reading skills. Therefore, we are offering incentives for your child to read over the summer. Between June 6th and August 20, 2012, your child can earn up to three free dress passes for reading books.
In order to get credit for reading each book, your child will need to select an appropriate book and complete a writing activity. Your child was shown in their English class how to use a free website to select books that will help them to improve their reading comprehension (www.arbookfind.com). Your child was also given a list of activities that they can choose from in order to demonstrate that they have read the book. Please encourage your child to read books over the summer and turn in their assignments during the first week of school.
